Richard S. Bromberg | Attorney | richard@bromberglaw.com Richard (“Rick”) is the managing partner of Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Maschler, PLLC. He began practicing law in 1975 and since 1980, his practice has been exclusive to immigration and nationality matters. Rick taught immigration law at the Antioch School of Law in Washington, DC, where he supervised the immigration clinic. Rick has a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University in Chicago. He is admitted to practice immigration law throughout the United States and belongs to the District of Columbia and Virginia bars. Rick frequently publishes articles on immigration law and speaks publicly on immigration topics. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is Virginia State Coordinator for Amnesty International. |

Elizabeth A. Kohler Maya | Attorney | elizabeth@bromberglaw.com Elizabeth is a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. During law school, she was active in the Association for Public Interest Law and competed on the Trial Advocacy Team. Elizabeth also completed various internships with non-profit legal assistance providers focused on immigration services, including Ayuda , Tahirih Justice Center, and the American Immigration Law Foundation. Upon graduation from law school, Elizabeth served as a federal judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, with majors in International Studies and Spanish. Prior to law school, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years in Targu Mures, Romania. Elizabeth began practicing immigration law with Rick Bromberg in October 2003 as an associate attorney. She is now a partner of Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Maschler, PLLC. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the National Immigration Project. Elizabeth is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court, and in 2011 she was selected as Mentor of the Year by Catholic Charities for her work supporting and advising pro bono attorneys. Elizabeth is a native English speaker fluent in Spanish and familiar with Romanian.

Toni Maschler | Attorney | toni@bromberglaw.com Toni is a 2004 cum laude graduate of the David A. Clarke School of Law (formerly Antioch School of Law) at the University of the District of Columbia. During law school, she served as Articles Editor of the UDC-DCSL Law Review, coordinated a panel discussing the effect of the 9/11 attacks on immigrants, and assisted asylum applicants with the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition. Toni has worked with immigrant and minority populations in a variety of capacities. She holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Spanish from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. Before law school, Toni taught English as a Second Language (ESL) and conducted youth programs for the Northern Virginia Urban League. She also helped the Alexandria United Way to develop, administer, and interpret a needs assessment of the local Latino/Hispanic population. Toni began practicing immigration law with Rick Bromberg as an associate attorney in 2005 and she is now a partner of Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Maschler, PLLC. Toni is a member of the Maryland Bar, the American Constitution Society, Phi Alpha Delta, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Toni is a native English speaker fluent in Spanish. |

Alden Leonard | Legal and Communications Assistant | alden@bromberglaw.com Alden joined Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Maschler, PLLC in May 2008. He has worked in fundraising, advocacy, on Capitol Hill and in political campaigns at the state & national levels. Additionally, he has experience tutoring immigrants in English. Alden has studied at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and the College of William & Mary, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in government. Alden is a native English speaker proficient in Spanish and French. |

Jennifer Miller | Legal Assistant and Office Manager | jennifer@bromberglaw.com Jennifer joined Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Maschler, PLLC in June of 2011. Prior to this she worked as a teacher at D.C. Prep, a D.C. public charter school. Additionally, Jennifer has experience tutoring English Language Learners. Jennifer graduated from the University of Virginia where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish. Jennifer studied Spanish in San Sebastian, Spain and Madrid, Spain. Jennifer also studied the Shining Path and Andean literature at the Universidad Catolica in Lima, Peru. Jennifer is a native English speaker fluent in Spanish and proficient in French. |

Mihaela Petre | Associate Attorney | mihaela@bromberglaw.com Mihaela Petre joined Bromberg, Kohler Maya and Maschler, PLLC in September 2011. Mihaela is admitted to practice law in New York and in her native Romania. She obtained her first law degree at the Law School of the University of Bucharest, Romania, and in 2008 she graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with an LL.M. in International Legal Studies. Mihaela practiced corporate law in Romania and worked as contract attorney for several major law firms in Washington, DC. Mihaela gained extensive NGO experience by working as Program Associate for the International Law Institute in Washington, DC. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association and American Immigration Lawyers Association. Mihaela is fluent in English and Romanian. |
